RESULTS
AINTREE SEPTEMBER 22ND 2007
Local TT ace Roy Richardson, from Bispham in Blackpool, has won the 2007 Aintree MCRRC Formula 600 championship. After competing at just two of the five Aintree club championship meetings, Roy won both of the Formula 600 races on his Barnes Racing R6 Yamaha.
Due to inconsistent rides by his competitors and the final race being for double points due the cancellation of the first Aintree races in May, Roy snatched the title from 2006 Aintree champion and St Annes fireman, Pete Whiteside.
Richardson made a good start from the front row and took the race lead on the third lap after a slip stream manouvre out of the 120mph Beechers corner down the back straight.
'I knew the championship win was on the cards. I tried to put that out of my mind as I needed to win the final race to be in with a chance of the title. The bike was very fast and handling well. I wanted to get to the front as early as possible and make a break so the others couldn't get into my slipstream and pass me the same way!' said Roy after the race.
Richardson also had 2 wins in the Classic 500 races on the Martin Bullock Racing Honda 500. These were one off rides in the Aintree Classic races and he didn't figure in the final c/ship standings.
Two other local classic racers we sponsor were also racing at Aintree. Alec Whitwell, also from Bispham, Blackpool, finished 4th in the Aintree 350 Classic c/ship after two 2nd place finishes. He also had two 5th place finishes in the Classic 500 races.
Geoff Bates, from Thornton-Cleveleys near Blackpool, had two 3rd place finishes in the 350 Classic races. He had extra motivation as fellow racer and good friend Alec Whitwell was just ahead on the track. In the second 350 race, he was heading Whitwell after a brilliant holeshot start and smooth consistent riding. Whitwell had to pull out all the stops and eventually passed Bates on the brakes on the last lap. Bates had the consolation of setting a personal fastest lap and faster than Whitwell's.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ISLE OF MAN TT RACES 2007
Motorcycle racer Roy Richardson, from Blackpool, had a successful 2007 Isle of Man Centenary TT fortnight riding the Barnes Racing Yamaha R6. He finished 17th in the 600cc Supersport race with an impressive fastest lap of 120.97mph.
He also competed in the final race day Senior open race on the same 600cc Yamaha and won the Supersport award for the first 600cc bike home.
Roy was happy with the results. 'I took it steady during practice week and got the bike set up exactly as I wanted. It is a missile in a straight line and that just left my team to sort out the handling. I was happy with it on the Friday of practice week and just used the extra practice sessions to check fuel consumption. My thanks goes to Foulds Metals for giving me such a competetive bike with full support and my mechanics/pit crew Matt Jackson, Dave East and Kevin Mawdsley.
